Welcome Note

Welcome to the website of The Nova Foundation for Differently Abled Persons, Inc., a Philippine-based non-stock, non-profit, non-government organization. Through our website, we hope to share with you: who we are and what we do; our aspirations and our needs; and what differently abled persons can do and what we may together do for them.

It is our desire to touch the lives of the educated disabled community by providing them training and job opportunities, and to touch the hearts of individuals and corporations by being involved in making them identify and reach their career goals.

We hope that our website would present both the opportunities and challenges that confront us. We can no longer remain passive, blind to their plight and deaf to their call. There are skills to be tapped, potentials to be nurtured, and dreams to be fulfilled. They can achieve it for themselves. We can help them do it. Today!

Magallanes Village Association Office Hires Deaf Data Entry Operators

May 31, 2010

ZENAIDA YBERA is a graduate of Bachelor in Applied Deaf Studies Major in Multi-Media Arts at De La Salle-College of Saint B e n i l d e SDEAS in 2007. Skills include: photography, graphic design, web design, data encoding.

MICHELLE MUSÑGI is a graduate of Bachelor in Applied Deaf Studies Major in Multi-Media Arts at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde SDEAS in 2003. Also took a Computer Graphics Vocational Course at Unique Technical skilled Training Center in 2006. Musñgi is knowledgeable of Multi-media software like Adobe Photoshop 5.5/7.0, CS PageMaker 6.0/6.5, Macromedia Director 8.5, CorelDraw 12, Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0, Imaging, Lay outing and Digital Large Format Technical Advertising and Basic HTML. also knowledgeable of freehand, drawing and painting.

Ybera and Musñgi are both graduates of NOVA ICT Training Center (from Batch 15), were officially hired by Magallanes Village Association Office on May 24, 2010 as Data Entry Operators through COREM, a company that provides security ID's for villages. They are tasked to do data entry encoding and photo editing of the ID's and car stickers of the residents of Magallanes Village Association Office. Additional task was given to Ybera that is photo editing of the ID's of the students of Assumption College. The idea to hire persons with hearing impairment transpired because of the good performance of NOVA Batch 15 President/Graduate Christopher Antonio (Deaf), now Data Entry Operator at DuraCare Cleaning Specialists. The projects mentioned above are short-term projects only but I do believe that this placement would made an impact to would-be participating companies or organizations, a very good example that qualified PWD's are capable of doing jobs, if and only they are given the opportunity.

To All our Benefactors, Friends, and Colleagues in the Sector

April 27, 2010

We (NOVA-CBM) are pleased to provide you with an update --- not just on the numbers of persons with disability (PWDs) who have passed through our doors at the NOVA-CBM Foundation ICT Training Center, but more relevantly, with specific success stories about PWDs who we have trained and are now gainfully employed.

On our staff, we have people like Cromwell Taduran, who has Cerebral Palsy (CP) and started out with us as a Technical Staff Trainee. After a short stint, we had him train and undergo the Medical Transcription Training Program with Total Transcriptions Solutions, Inc. After qualifying, under the tutelage of the Foundation, he pioneered its Work-At-Home Program. He is now Training Manager of the NOVA-CBM ICT Training Center. Significantly, the Training Center is now completely

managed by PWDs except for the interpreter who happens to be the mother of a hearing impaired child.

ANG PAGBABAGO 2010
The TV5 and PPCRV Presidential Forum

February 11, 2010

On February 7, 2010, Sunday, "Ang Pagbabago 2010" Presidential Forum was held at the Auditorium of Miriam College, Quezon City. This Forum is organized by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) in cooperation with TV5 News and Public Affairs.

The ten presidential candidates confirmed their attendance to this much-awaited Forum but due to unavoidable circumstances, four didn't make it. Moderator-host was none other than Paolo Bediones, in his first news-anchoring job on TV5, with Anna de Villa-Singson as co-host.

It is the aim of this Forum to make the participants know more about the presidential candidates and their plans and programs. The debate was divided into four rounds: first, Candidate vs. Candidate; second, Candidate vs. Panel of Experts; third, Candidate vs. Sectoral Groups; and fourth, Final Statement.

Selected respondents from the audience were interviewed after the forum. Each has given their opinion about the candidates basing on their performances during the debate.

As eligible persons with disabilities (PWDs) are not exempted to the upcoming 2010 Elections and to show support, ten representatives of The Nova Foundation for Differently Abled Persons, Inc. have participated to this Forum.

This Forum was aired on TV5 at 9:30pm on the same day
